Winners set the scene for winning in everything they do, think and believe. Of course, they’ve put in the hours, but they have something else: a winner’s attitude. They think like a champion, they talk like a champion, they walk like a champion. The Attitude of a Champion. Believing you can win – believing you are a champion and that you deserve success – produces results.

Bruce not only works with athletes for peak performance, mental toughness and confidence. He also works to improve focus and pre-competition nervousness, remove mental blocks, regain confidence after injury, increase motivation, regain the joy of sport, compete like you practice and negative thought-stopping.

While our main focus is on athletes, the same tools and session structure work equally well with musicians and other high-performers.

Engage Your Unconscious Mind to Win

Many professional athletes use hypnosis to improve performance. Visualization is often used to imagine the desired result. For instance, a weightlifter will visualize the perfect clean and jerk, seeing and feeling all of his muscles, each minor movement and adjustment through each step of the lift. By repeatedly visualizing these perfect movements, the body will be able to accomplish just that during competition. The same sort of visualizations can be used for, say, the pole vault - or any other sport.

Self-statements and self-hypnosis cement the goals and desired results in the mind of the athlete and therefore become unconscious actions during competition or games. Hypnosis can also help improve focus and concentration, and relieve the stress of competition and pressure of performance. Self-hypnosis is the tool that allows an athlete to become their own Mental Toughness Coach.

Hypnosis is like a Massage For Your Mind

Hypnosis induces a state of relaxation of body and mind, and a heightened awareness that is sometimes called a trance. You cannot feel any of life’s stresses or worries when under hypnosis. You feel happy, calm, peaceful and at ease. At the same time, while in a completely relaxed state, you are fully awake, mentally alert and can respond to the hypnotist’s suggestions.

The word hypnosis refers to a state of mind in which the conscious mind is deeply relaxed. This state promotes better communication between the conscious and the subconscious mind by allowing thoughts to bypass the conscious mind and accept suggestions in line with your goals. This state enables changes in perception, a major increase in response to suggestion, and the potential for controlling many physiological functions that are usually involuntary.

Session 1

Direction

  • Goals: Clear, stretchy yet achievable, "I" goals stated in the positive with time frames. Handwritten, reviewed daily.

  • Goals: Long term and Short term, performance goals and mindset goals.

  • Goals: Review and update your goals every few months.

  • Visualization: Vividly real actions and outcomes. Must include all sesnses.

  • Visualization: All rehearsed frequently and before competition.

Attitude & Mindset

  • Attitude: Believe, Act, Walk, Talk and Think like a CHAMPION

  • Attitude: A CHAMPION does NOT play to avoid losing. A CHAMPION plays to WIN.

  • Mindfulness: Notice when you have difficulty acting like a champion and change those situations.

  • Positive thinking and clear, well visualized goals create the motivation to continually move towards them. The clearer the goals, the greater the motivation.

Positive Thinking

  • Mindfulness: Awareness of moods, emotional states, beliefs, negative thoughts and how they impact your performance.

  • Mindfulness: be aware of negative thoughts and STOP them early.

  • Affirmations or positive statements keep you focused on your goals. This is the heart of your mental practice.

  • Resilience: The mental toughness to STAY in positive thoughts even when the uncontrollable happens.

Intense Focus

  • Relaxation: this is getting yourself to just the right balance of muscle tone & limp and just the right balance of alertness and detachment to be ready for YOUR competition.

  • In the Zone: Regular, successful practice at getting into the Zone.

  • The Zone is an ideal. It is impossible to be there all the time. Your job is to get close

  • Resilience: Stuff happens. you'll learn visualization techniques to get back your focus.
